As we find the holidays fast approaching, Organic America is in the works of finding a charitable way to give back to the community. We were founded as a company based on principles of providing healthy eating options for the mass population, but a great priority of ours is also to do good for the community that we are gratefully a part of.

We are open to suggestions, or if you are part of a charitable organization yourself, we would love to hear from you. As the days dwindle down, please help us in deciding where to focus our philanthropical efforts to make the holidays just a little bit brighter.

Thank you,
The Organic America Team

It is safe to say that most of us prepare a meal requiring the use of cooking oil at least once a week.

For those who cook with oil regularly, it is important to use the healthiest oils to maintain your heart health, cholesterol levels, and keep other health factors in good condition.

According to an article on Huffington Post, the following three are the all-stars of healthy oils:

1. Hazelnut Oil – 7% Saturated Fat/82% Monounsaturated Fat
With one of the most beneficial ratios of fat, hazelnut oil is a prime factor in promoting heart health. The nutty flavoring of the oil also complements wonderfully with savory dishes.

2. Avocado Oil – Though this oil is a little higher in Saturated Fat than the previous, avocado oil has been proven to help prevent gum disease and also adds “good gats” to your diet.

3. Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Most health conscious cookers use this popular oil because it is well known for promoting heart health. Extra Virgin Olive Oil protects our bodies by increasing healthy HDL cholesterol within our systems. One of nature’s finest health enhancers.

So there you have it – three top oils to consider when searching for a healthier oil to cook with. Replacing your vegetable oil with any of these three wholesome alternatives will steer you towards a more healthy cooking style.

Like many other busy professionals working in a bustling city, I have at certain times allowed my diet to go in a terribly unhealthy direction. The latest epiphany took place in August on a Friday as I reflected on everything I ate the week before. McDonalds breakfast burritos because I had no time in the mornings to prepare a decent breakfast. Frozen dinners for lunch because I would rather work through lunch than leave the office to grab something even more potentially unhealthy. For dinner I would eat whatever I could find because by 7pm, convenience trumped healthiness on all accounts.

That was when I decided to make a drastic change in my diet. I made a conscious commitment to somehow find the extra time throughout the day to get in my wholesome nutrients in an organic way and prepare my food on my own.

Undoubtedly, Microsalads have been a huge part of my diet change. My longtime favorites have been the Green Mix, Asian Mix, and Micro Basil and Micro Kale. I began to put them into everything I prepared and finally was able to enjoy how much they enhanced the flavors of my food. They often took away my need for extra artificial seasonings and have become a staple in my meal plans now. The results have been wonderful as I am certain that the nutrients from all the wholesome foods have given me more energy and I feel much more fit than before. It is a change that I urge all of my busy friends and loved ones to make.

Since the beginning, Organic America’s main vision has always been to provide our customers with quality organic food at an affordable price. Once you have made the decision to improve your diet with healthy organic produce, we don’t believe that it should cost you significantly more.

This November, we have just stepped it up another notch by increasing the volume of our standard shells from 1.75oz to 2.50 oz. We are so proud to present you with even more of our delicious micro salad product per shell for the same price as before.

Now, you can live even larger.

It seems as though us young professionals are always in search of that perfectly light yet tasteful salad to complement our lunch. Of course, purchasing our salads every day from the nearest cafe can not only have a toll on our wallets but also our physiques.

Since I have ventured out to preparing my own salads, I’ve realized that it only usually takes 10 minutes out of my morning to prepare the perfect salad that I can enjoy mid-day in the office. Give my favorites a try and get back to us with what you think! Enjoy. 🙂

Simple Salad 1. Beats, Nuts & Greens Salad – Slice up desired amount of beets into slices, then cut those slices into halves. Separately, put one cup of almonds into a food processor and “chop” finely. Mix together and drizzle with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Top with Micro Salad Asian mix for a little natural kick to a whole some and delicious salad.

Simple Salad 2. Green and Lean Salad – Combine 1 cup of spinach, 1 cup of lettuce, and 1 shell of Micro Salad Green Mix together. For dressing, mix together 3 table spoons of olive oil, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of chopped garlic. Toss and serve.

Simple Salad 3. Caesar With A Spin Salad – Prepare a traditional caesar salad. Toss with Micro Salad Basil, caesar garlic dressing, and top with parmesan cheese. Plate and enjoy.

This Thanksgiving, my family and I incorporated Micro Salad into our cooking for the first time. When I first considered the idea, I admit that I was a little apprehensive. Would people love it as much as I do? Would they like the taste? Which micro salad should I provide for the cooking? Which dishes would it go best with?

Before I could think too much into it, I decided to go for the Micro Salad Green Mix, and Asian Mix because I decided they would suit the palettes of my family members the best.

We made a delicious Greek inspired broccoli and cashews dish that I topped with the Green Mix. We also had the Asian Mix out in a bowl for everyone to grab a small (or large) handful of.

Needless to say, the Micro Salads were a huge hit. I had cousins asking me what other ideas I had for recipes that would be good with these greens and where they can stock up on some for themselves. The combination of the delicious taste, the need to not use too much to get an amazing effect, and their innately nutritious qualities made them lovable to all eaters young and old alike.

Paired with a glass of freshly made sangria, a Thanksgiving dinner topped with some Micro Salad may just be one of the most delicious concoctions ever to have existed. 🙂
